Abstract (EN)

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is a relatively new concept based on radicalizing the eductation system at all levels to promote and foster a sustainable behavior mentality in the lives of learners. To systematically understand and change education systems for ESD, a thorough understanding of sustainability is required so that it can be nurtured in the lifestyle of future generations. Higher education (HE) institutions play a major role in ESD as learners at this level are on the doors of entering the work field and offering their skills to their society. The main purpose of this paper is to identify how ESD can be implemented in higher education and what the barriers are and challenges it brings along.
