Abstract (EN)
This thesis aims to investigate the power attenuation due to atmospheric absorption, scattering [1] and turbulence faced at the receiver of Free Space Optics (FSO) communication systems. Power losses will be characterized in FSO systems due to atmospheric conditions and the impact of these losses on the system performance will be evaluated [2]. Based on the attenuation levels and the characteristics of the detectors used, power levels needed at the transmitter will be estimated for the required link availability. The thesis will search theoretical methods to understand the critical effects of atmospheric absorption and scattering on the reliability and efficiency of FSO systems and solutions will be proposed [3] The results of the research can make an important contribution to guide new strategies for FSO technology to be resilient to power losses in the atmosphere.
