Abstract (EN)

BLDC motors are gaining more popularity with every passing year, and the usage fields of the BLDC motors also increase with that. Also, the number of devices connecting to the grid increases. Additionally, the structure of the electricity grids changes along with that the renewable energy sources are more popular year by year. Although becoming the renewable energy source widespread is an improvement for our planet, both the change in the structure of the distribution system and the increase in the number of devices bring some power quality issues along with themselves. Therefore, it is important to know how these power quality problems affect the BLDC motors, especially when it is considered that the BLDC motors are used in applications that need high accuracy and stability. The effects of some power quality events on a grid-connected BLDC motor have been simulated in MATLAB/Simulink in this study. First, harmonic, transient, voltage sag, voltage swell, momentary interruption, and voltage fluctuation have been generated on the pure grid voltage, and their effects on the BLDC motor have been observed. Then, the same power quality events, except harmonic distortion, have been generated on a grid voltage including harmonics, and again their effects on the BLDC motor have been analyzed. Additionally, all simulations have been performed on two different transformers transferring the power to the BLDC motor when the motor operated at both full and half load conditions.
