Abstract (EN)
Energy and sustainable development are one of the most critical and priority issues in today's world. Energy serves as the pillar of modern societies and affects many important factors such as economic growth, social well-being and environmental sustainability. Among the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), energy targets offer the key to a sustainable future around the world. Sustainable energy refers to an approach that minimizes environmental impacts, encourages efficient use of energy resources, and aims to expand energy access to all segments of society. This means transitioning from energy systems based on fossil fuels to cleaner and environmentally friendly energy sources. It also includes efforts to use energy more efficiently and make the energy sector sustainable. This close relationship between energy and sustainable development intersects at a point where a number of complex goals come together, such as solving environmental problems at the global level, reducing energy poverty, supporting economic growth and social development. In the future, transforming the energy sector in a sustainable way will be the key to a more livable future around the world. In this context, this study was carried out to understand the current situation and future of Turkey in the context of energy and sustainable development. Sources in domestic and foreign literature were examined using document analysis and within this framework, Turkey's situation on energy was tried to be revealed. The study highlights certain elements to increase energy efficiency in Turkey and improve the current situation. These elements include encouraging sustainable energy use, diversifying energy sources, and taking strategic steps towards energy efficiency. It is thought that this study will contribute to the literature in order to shape Turkey's energy policies more effectively and achieve sustainable development goals.
