Abstract (EN)
The investigation was conducted to examine the relationship between adolescents' digital addiction and well-being, focusing on the mediating roles of sleep deprivation and mindfulness. The research data were obtained through a survey method, making it a cross-sectional and quantitative study. The participants consisted of 450 voluntary students aged 13-18 from secondary education institutions. Data collection tools included a personal information form, the Digital Addiction Scale for Adolescents and Young Adults, the Sleep Deprivation Scale for Children and Adolescents, the Five-Dimensional Well-Being Model for Adolescents: EPOCH Scale, and the Mindfulness Scale Adolescent Form. In the study, Hayes PROCESS Model 6 was used to analyze the roles of mediating variables (sleep deprivation and mindfulness) in the relationship between the independent variable (digital addiction) and the dependent variable (well-being). The results showed that digital addiction affects well-being through the mediating factors of sleep deprivation and mindfulness. Digital addiction was found to play a significant role on the first mediating variable (sleep deprivation). While digital addiction positively affected sleep deprivation, sleep deprivation negatively affected mindfulness. A positive relationship was observed between mindfulness and well-being. Although there was a negative relationship between the independent and dependent variables in the study, it was not statistically significant. The effect of the independent variable (digital addiction) on the dependent variable (well-being) was observed through mediating factors, with the strongest effect seen in the first mediating variable (sleep deprivation).
