Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to examine social media addiction of adolescents with the relation of academic success in terms of some variables. This descriptive study employs a correnational survey design. The sample of the study in volves 810 high school learners randomly selected from high schools in Çay, Afyonkarahisar. Data were collected through the "Social Media Addiction Scale" (Tutgun-Ünal, 2015). In the analys is of the data, frequencies, percentages and mean ranks,Kruskal-Wallis H Test, Mann-Whitney U Test, Spearman Brown Correlation were used. Findings indicate that there is a significant negative relationship between social media addiction of high school students and academic achievement. Social media addiction level of high school students do not differ according to gender, class level and type of school. However, academic achievement significantly differ according to gender, class level and type of school.
