Erly period of the Republic of child care and child protection policies ahown in Turkey (1923- 1940)

After the National Struggle led by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the establishment of the Turkish Republic took place, but this important success hosted a society that is tired of wars, tired, poor in health, uneducated, poor and struggling with epidemic diseases. Undoubtedly, the people most affected by wars, famines and epidemics were the elderly, women and children. In this period, it was seen as an important issue that children who are alone, orphans or in need of protection should be protected. The newly established state was aware of the necessity of relying on the generation that will shape its future, within the framework of the nation-state, healthy, robust, loyal to their country and nation, and national consciousness. In this direction, in the first years of the Republic, efforts were initiated to eliminate the troubled situation as soon as possible in order to reach the level of contemporary civilizations and to observe the society in its current conditions. The laws enacted on children in need of protection were an important step in the Early Republican Period, but they were insufficient in overcoming the existing structure and issues. In the study, within the framework of the Early Republican Period child protection policies, the institutions and organizations created for the protection of children were discussed, and the laws that the young republic put into effect on children in need of protection between 1923-1940 and the reflections of these laws were discussed, and archive documents, parliamentary hearings, newspapers and copyright-research works were used.
