Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of authenticity and sacrifice (sacrifice frequency, sacrifice harmfulness, and satisfaction with sacrifice) on relational help-seeking behaviors (help-seeking frequency and problem) in a sample of married individuals. Sample of the study comprised of 250 individuals (199 female and 51 male). Data was collected via Relational Professional Help-Seeking Scale (RPHSS), Authenticity Scale (AS), Sacrifice Inventory (SI), and Demographic Form. In order to analyze the relationships between the study variables, correlation analyses and hierarchical regression analyses were conducted. SPSS 25 was used to analyze data. Gender and marital length were controlled in the first step of hierarchical model and results showed that gender and marital length were significant predictors of relational help-seeking frequency while were not significant predictors of acceptance of help-seeking in married individuals. Although authenticity did not significantly predict the help-seeking frequency, it significantly and positively predicted the acceptance of help-seeking. It was observed that sacrifice frequency and sacrifice harmfulness significantly explained relational help-seeking frequency but did not significantly explain the acceptance of help-seeking. Finally, it was revealed that perceived satisfaction with sacrifice was not a significant predictor in explaining relational help-seeking frequency and acceptance and help-seeking. The results of the study were discussed in the light of the relevant literature and suggestions were made for further research and implications.
