Abstract (EN)

Solar chimney power plant is one of the inexhaustible fuel sources that are pollution and often noise free. This work an experimental study of a small prototype of solar chimney in Iraq (Baghdad city). The experimental model is 1:70 in size of (Manzanares) existing prototype. The measurements took during first half of the year 2016 (January, February, March, April, May, and June). An (8.54) meters squire area of concrete had covered with translucent plastic material as collector, with a high of 0.026 cm (over ground). Chimney high is (290) cm made from PVC pipe material, and diameter of 10 cm, The result show that the average velocity outlet from chimney was between (0.88) and (1.2) m/s. In different months average power output from (4.22) to (11.48) watt. Mainly the weather in this month was good, sunny, with very little cloud somewhere. Results show good possibility to generate the electricity using solar chimney, The temperature difference between inside collector temperature and ambient temperature is reached a value (1.1 ◦C) to (13 ◦C), Calculations show available average annual power of (582498156.4) Kw.hThermo-economical analysis was made and obtained a cost of Kw.h of electricity from enlarge prototype 0,033$. Keywords: solar chimney, solar updraft tower, mine solar prototype, turbine, greenhouse.
