Abstract (EN)
This study focuses on the pyrolysis of waste tire by using the catalytic distillation method to obtain engine fuels by rotary kiln and batch reactors. Then each waste tire oil sample was used to pyrolyze into batch reactor. Then each waste tire oil was pyrolyzed with 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 wt%, into batch reactor. The optimum graphic was obtained as 10 wt% CaO. Characteristics of those light and heavy fuels resembled those of gasoline (18 wt% fraction) and diesel fuel (70 wt% fraction). Characteristics of the produced fuels were named as gasoline-like fuel (GLF) and diesel-like fuel (DLF), respectively. After producing the GLF and DLF, series of tests for determining effect of the GLF and the DLF on engine performance and exhaust emission are performed using the gasoline and diesel test engines. Force, air and fuel mass flowrate to the engine, engine speed, exhaust temperature and emissions of CO, CO2, O2, NO, NOx and HC for each test are measured using the fuels. It is observed that the produced GLF and DLF can be used in gasoline and diesel engines without any problem in terms of characteristics, distillation and performance tests. It is understood that the GLF and DLF increase torque, brake power, brake mean effective pressure and thermal efficiency but they decrease brake specific fuel consumption. The sulfur is decreased from 8000 to 100 ppm by oxidative desulfurization method. Costs of the GLF and DLF are obtained as US $0.333/L and US $0.918 /L, respectively.
