Investigation of physical activity levels and exercise addiction of students who study in different high schools

The main purpose of this study is to deal with the issues of physical activity and exercise addiction and to investigate the reflections of this situation in secondary school students by considering the factors affecting exercise addiction and exercise addiction criteria. Voluntarily to our work; A total of 600 students from Anatolian High School, Sports High School and Imam Hatip High School attended. The data obtained using the Personal Information Form, Physical Activity Questionnaire and Exercise Dependence Scale were analyzed by creating a database using the SPSS 22.0 (Statistical package for the Social Sciences) package program in computer environment, taking into account the dependent and independent variables. In order to determine the distributions according to demographic variables, frequency (f) and percentages (%) were calculated. Means and standard deviations were calculated. Independent sample t-test and one-way variance (ANOVA) analyzes were conducted to determine whether the levels of exercise dependence vary according to demographic variables. Correlation analysis was conducted to find the relationship between the Exercise Addiction levels of the participants. As a result of the One-Way ANOVA test, a significant difference was found between variables (p =, 000). Sports high school students' exercise addiction scale, excessive focus and emotional change, and development of tolerance and passion sub-dimension levels were significantly higher compared to other students. Postponing and conflict of individual-social needs sub-dimension levels are significantly higher in imam hatip high school students compared to other students.
