Abstract (EN)

The researches in volatile anaesthetics and anaesthesia equipment about the effects of microorganisms reproduction are limited. However, the multi-use masks, endotracheal tubes and the equipment such as breathing circuits which are used during the anesthesia to the patient and the moisture in the machine allow a good environment for the infection and contamination. The oxygen which is used in high concentration has an inhibitory effect on the all microorganisms reproduction. Moreover the metallic ions (chromium, zinc and copper) caused by anesthesia device and because of the soda-lime nature are toxic. Therefore, because of these two different situations, we aimed to investigate the results of contamination that may occur during the anesthesia.After medical interventions, commonly isolated S.aureus, K.pneumoniae which is particularly effects of nosocomial infections, A. baumannii that can cause serious infections in care centers and P.aeruginosa which is in the second place in nosocomial pneumonias have been included in our study. Anaesthetics gases can be well diffused to the liquid medium and more easily support their nutritional requirements in the microorganisms. The liquid medium is far more similar to the respiratory mucosa, it was preferred in our study.From the volatile anaesthetics, the low metabolic rates and due to the unchanged disposal of high rates from the lungs, isoflurane and sevoflurane are preferred. These are used in clinical conditions which are more preferred in the concen trations of 1 MAK value. This study is organized in benmari container at 37 ° C which is similar properties to invivo media. The micro-organisms have been inseminated in liquid medium and were exposed to volatile anaesthetics in 4 hours. The input and output values were measured spectrophotometrically. The effects of different fresh gas flows were observed on microorganisms. To be statistical significantly, the each experiment was repeated six times in vitro media.As a summary; Although the effect of anaesthetic agents vary depending on the type of microorganism, S.aureus was not affected from the anaesthetic gases and also reproduction was not suppressed. K. pneumoniae is completely suppressed and the reproduction has decreased. . When the affected time is extended from the anaesthetic gases, the reproduction of A. baumannii and P.aeruginosa are increased. It seems that the affected time of several micro-organisms depends on the anesthesia time. Because of this reason, this relationship should be considered in prolonged operations. There are similar foreign-based studies. Some studies are made at higher concentrations (2 MAK). The affected of microorganisms reproduction in these studies was observed. Our study has continued for four hours
