The relationship between the quality of life and physical activity level of individuals exercising in fitness centers

Abstract (EN)
The aim of this research was to determine the effects of physical activity levels of individuals, exercising on the moderate and high intensity, between the sub-dimensions of health-related quality of life. In the research among the quantitative research methods, relational survey model was used. A total of 286 individuals of different age and education groups exercising in different fitness centers in Eskişehir participated in this research but data of 254 people were evaluated. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form (IPAQ-SF) and the 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36) were used in this study. In the data analysis, "percentage, frequencies, standard deviation, mean, Ki-square, t-test, ANOVA were used. Product-Moment Correlation coefficients were calculated in order to see the relationship between physical activity levels and quality of life behaviors. According to the research results there is no significant difference in physical activity levels based on age, gender, marital status, exercise duration, body mass index (p> 0.05). There is a significant difference in general health, role functioning/emotional sub-dimensions (p<.05) but there is no significant difference in physical functioning, role functioning/physical, pain, vitality, social functioning, emotional well-being sub-dimensions (p> 0.05). There is no significant difference in all eight sub-dimensions based on age, gender, marital status, exercise duration, body mass index (p> 0.05). It has been found out that there is a negative and significant relationship between general health status (p<.05) but there is no significant relationship between physical activity levels and other sub-dimensions (p> 0.05).
