Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aims of this study were; to determine reliability and validity of Turkish Checklist Individual Strength (CIS-T) Questionnaire, to determine the effects of mobilization on fatigue levels and to compare fatigue levels between musculoskeletal physical therapy patients (who were inpatients and outpatients) and healthy subjects. Methods: The questionnaire was adapted to Turkish with `back translation? method. The study was conducted in School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation of Dokuz Eylül University Hospital, Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of Dokuz Eylül University Hospital and Campus of Dokuz Eylül University Hospital between 02.07.07 ? 09.01.09. In this research 50 healthy subjects, 165 musculoskeletal physical therapy patients (128 outpatients, 37 inpatients) were evaluated. Mobilization levels were designated according to American Medical Association (AMA) criteria. To validate CIS-T all participants answered CIS-T and Short Form?36 (SF?36). CIS was applied again one week later for test-retest reliability (ICC).Results: Internal consistency reliability of CIS-T was Cronbach ? = 0.87 and ICC reliability was r = 0,92. Item-discriminant validity were calculated between r = 0.10 and r = 0.63. The correlations between the total scores of the scale and the subscale scores of SF?36 were negatively significant (p<0.01). There was no significant relation between mobilization and fatigue levels. Total CIS scores were significantly higher in musculoskeletal physical therapy patients (inpatients) than healthy subjects but there was no significant difference between physical therapy patients (outpatients) and healthy subjects (p<0.05).Conclusion: The CIS-T was a valid and reliable scale for assessing fatigue in physical therapy patients, there was no relation between mobilization and fatigue levels and fatigue levels of musculoskeletal physical therapy patients were higher than healthy subjects.
