Abstract (EN)

Photovoltaic thermal modules have been developed which can produce both heat energy and electrical energy from a single module to reduce the module surface temperature by preventing the loss of efficiency caused by temperature increase photovoltaic modules. In this thesis, photovoltaic thermal module having low cost and simple structre which can meet the need of hot water in conjuction with the increase of electrical efficiency has been designed and the module data which was designed has been examined to compare with reference photovoltaic module data. Electrical and thermal efficiency calculations were made by measuring module front and back surface temperatures, ambient temperature, refrigerant inlet and outlet temperatures, module current and voltage values, radiation, wind speed parameters The experiments were carried out on August 03, 2019 and 07 August 2019 between 09.30-16.30 at a flow rate of 0.83-1.25-1.67-2.08-2.50 liters/minute. PV module front surface temperature ranged from 61.80 0C to 31.70 0C, and PV/T module front surface temperature ranged from 50.50 0C to 27.30 0C. The highest thermal efficiency was determined as 74.15%, the highest electrical efficiency was determined as 13.41% for reference PV module and 14.36% for PV / T module at 1.25 liter / minute flow rate. Thank by means of the cooling system, the module surface temperature was reduced and the electrical efficiency was increased by 7.11% at 1.25 liters / minute flow rate.
