Abstract (EN)
The aim of this thesis is determine of the level of natural radioactivity in 61 soil samples taken from different regions of Islahiye, Nurdagı and Sahinbey districts of Gaziantep city. 238U, 232Th and 40K radioactivity concentrations of radionuclides in soil samples taken from these district were measured by using a well type NaI(TI) detectors connected to multichannel analyzer (MCA). The results of the natural radioactivity of the region that have been evaluated according to specific criteria. Average specific activities of 238U, 232Th and 40K in soil samples taken from İslahiye, Nurdağı and Şahinbey districts in Gaziantep city were found to be 39.18 ± 21.52 Bq/kg, 44.30±20.81 Bq/kg and 325.54±42.13 Bq/kg, respectively. The average 40K activity values were found to be slightly lower than international average effective value given by UNESCEAR 2000 report.
