Genetically modified plants and their position among the agricultural products

The transformation in the agricultural sector; in which modern biotechnology has been used most which enabling the gene transfer from one species to another and giving new genetic characteristics by interfering with the existing genetic structure, has been positively reflected on human life and many other areas. These changes have also led to various ethical problems and economic conflicts. In the field of modern biotechnology, which is among the most important issues in the world; studies that are carried out in our country and their results, our country's existing potential, needs and opportunities related to usage of biotechnology should be evaluated as a whole and policies that can be carried out correctly and effectively should be established and implemented. The studies that are carried out in line with these policies and existing legal regulations' compliance with the international protocols and the European Union acquis should be monitored and evaluated. In this study, the current situation of genetically modified agricultural products in our country and in the world, has been investigated and it is aimed to evaluate the state policies by analyzing the legal regulations under this title.
