Abstract (EN)
Aim: In this study, it was aimed to determine the etiological causes of patients with non-immune nonhemolytic indirect hyperbilirubinemia (HB) whose gestational week (GH) was 35 weeks and above between 2008 and 2018 at the Farabi Hospital of Karadeniz Technical University. Method: Demographic characteristics and blood groups of all mothers and their babies included in the study, history of maternal drug use, use of probiotics in babies, hemogram, direct Coombs, reticulocyte, total-direct bilirubin level, acute phase reactant level, complete urinalysis, urine culture, urine reduction substance, Glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) and Pyruvate kinase (PK) level, free thyroxine (fT4) and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) level, metabolic screening if sent, data regarding the treatments applied [phototherapy (FT), blood exchange] were scanned and transferred to electronic media. Results: It was determined that the pathological jaundice of 364 newborns involved inthe study whose etiology other than isoimmune hemolytic disease was detected, respectively, were breast milk jaundice, dehydration, urinary tract infection (UTI), congenital hypothyroidism, sepsis, indoor hemorrhages, and erythrocyte enzyme deficiency. Conclusion: In the postnatal evaluation of newborns, it is important to follow up carefully in terms of neonatal HB, and to be evaluated in terms of dehydration, UTI, congenital hypothyroidism, sepsis, indoor hemorrhages, erythrocyte enzyme deficiency and metabolic diseases in patients with pathological bilirubin value according to Bhutani normograms.
