Abstract (EN)

As a result of the separation of public and private sphere from the public sphere, by the transition to modern capitalist society, women were kept away from the labor market and their area of influence was designated as the private sphere. This distinction, which was determined by the society, caused women to be stuck in the private sphere and stay away from economic activities. However, women's labor in the home has been rendered invisible and shown as worthless. In the labor market, these jobs have responses, but they were shown by the neoclassical politicians and men as and women's duties. Today, the participation of women to the economic activities in the public sphere is increasing. In contrast to the idea that women can be emancipated by entering education and work, this study showed that women participating in economic activity could not be liberated, subjected to more workloads and excluded from various fields of social life without breaking down the gender-based division of labor in the private sphere. This study is based on a field study conducted with 12 female entrepreneurs registered with the Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen in Bolu. The study takes attention to making women visible in the field of entrepreneurship, where men are actively involved, and the relationship between women entrepreneurs and the gender roles associated with the private sphere. Findings of the study; It shows that women entrepreneurs have an impact on their maternity roles in the process of starting entrepreneurship and that women continue their gender roles in the public sphere to a large extent. At the same time, the gender-based division of labor shows that women cannot succeed in the entrepreneurship process, which they started in order to be emancipated.
