Göç edebiyatında kadın: Monica Ali'nin Brick Lane romanının ve Selim Özdoğan'ın Göç Üçlemesi'ndeki romanların karşılaştırmalı incelemesi

Throughout history, migration has played a crucial role and shaped societies, cultures, customs, and languages in different ways. Today, migration is still a relevant and topical issue, especially with recent outbreaks of migration waves as a result of economic, political, and environmental crises. One of the ways people deal with and process migration is through writing and authorship. As a distinct genre, migration literature offers insights into important topics related to migration, such as identity, race, language and class, and sheds light on the multifaceted challenges and experiences of migrants. In this study, Monica Ali's Brick Lane and Selim Özdoğan's The Anatolian Blues Trilogy, consisting of the three novels The Blacksmith's Daughter, 52 Factory Lane, and A Light Still Burns, as examples of Bangladeshi-British and Turkish-German migration literature, will be analyzed with a comparative approach. The focus of the analysis is on the female protagonists, Nazneen and Gül, and their identity formation, especially that of a hybrid identity, themes of belonging and their image of the self and the other. Both novels address migration and identity issues, portraying female characters who face not only the challenges of being migrants but also the burdens of patriarchy and the traditional gender roles imposed on them. This thesis argues that while the female protagonists struggle with their identities, these struggles ultimately lead to self-discovery and varying degrees of agency and freedom. This analysis explores how gender, patriarchal norms, cultural hybridity, and the migrant experience shape the protagonists' journeys and identities.
