Abstract (EN)

In this study; single phase rectifiers, which draw sinusoidal current from the grid, aredesigned and evaluated. The rectifiers that are studied include rectifiers single phase boost typerectifier, modified boost type rectifier, semi-bridge rectifier, bi-directional semi-bridge rectifierand full bridge rectifier. The rectifiers have been designed and simulated in Matlab/Simulinkenvironment.Each simulated rectifier unit has two control mechanisms. The first controller is a linearPI controller which regulates output voltage. The second one is hysteresis controller or PWMcontroller that shapes the input current drown from the grid. Simulation results show that all thefive type rectifiers have satisfactory performance. Total harmonic distortion (THD) levels in thegrid current are in the acceptable range defined in the harmonic standards. The current which isdrown from the grid is sinusoidal in shape and in almost same phase with voltage, thus thepower factor of the rectifier is close to unity. All the rectifiers have been simulated with the same heavy and light load conditions, and their performance have been observed and evaluated. Settling time for a given referencevalue, THD rates in the grid current, and rectifier output voltage waveforms of each designedsystem have been compared.
