Abstract (EN)
The research problematizes the establishment of meaning in the triangle of 'artist - artwork - audience' by adopting the claim of semiotics and post-structuralist thought that meaning is secondary in work and devoid of absoluteness in this respect. When it comes to contemporary art, how this traditional domination over meaning has evolved is shown by pointing out various factors such as mimesis, iconography, aesthetics, and text which are decisive on meaning from primitive narrative to present. Thus, by emphasizing the contextual nature of meaning in contemporary artwork, the plurality of meaning is emphasized by means of different methods suitable for analyzing meaning.
