Teacher's opinions on the applications of Baroque period violin techniques by violin students of Fine Arts High School music department

Abstract (EN)

Music departments of Fine Arts High Schools have an important place in terms of violin education. Violin students in these educational institutions perform etudes and works related to different periods of music. Baroque period, which is one of these periods, contains unique features in terms of both period music structure and instrument techniques. In this study, it was aimed to examine the teachers' opinions about the violin students' application of Baroque Period violin techniques in Fine Arts High Schools. In the research, document analysis and semi-structured interview technique were used as qualitative research methods. In the data collection process of the research, online interviews were conducted with violin teachers working in Ankara, İzmir, Eskişehir, Antalya, Erzurum and Mersin Fine Arts High Schools. Violin teachers' answers to the prepared interview questions constituted the data source of the research. The data obtained were explained by content analysis method and given descriptively. As a result of the research; it was determined that the students in Fine Arts High Schools have little knowledge of Baroque period music, there are difficulties in applying Baroque period violin techniques and violin lesson hours are insufficient and solution suggestions are presented.
