Investigation of the effect of the post activation process applied to weightlight athletes on the strength outcomes

Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this research is to examine the effect of post activation potential on power output in weightlifting athletes. For this purpose, 10 male weightlifting athletes between the ages of 18-25 years were studied. A single experimental group pre-post test research model was used in the research. The design of the research consists of two different parts (without conditioning activity-with conditioning activity (CA)). In the section without CA, demographic information of the participants was collected. For the CA protocol, 1 maximum repetition (MR) back squat measurements were taken from weightlifters. A CA protocol has been specially designed for each athlete, with 85% of 1 set of 5 repetitions of back squats, taking 1MR's as a reference. Afterwards, vertical jump measurements (CMJ, arm swing CMJ and SJ) were measured using the Jumpmeter. At the end of the section without CA, measurements for Olympic lifts were made using the Gymaware device. In the CA section, data on vertical jump measurements and data on Olympic lifts were collected immediately after the CA protocol. Kolmogorov Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk Tests were applied for the normality distributions of the data obtained as a result of the measurements. Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used to determine the difference between measurements applied at 2 different times. As a result of the statistical analysis, it was determined that CA had an effect on the vertical jump tests CMJ and arm swing CMJ scores (p<0.05), but it had no effect on the SJ scores (p>0.05). In addition, it was observed that CA had no effect on weightlifting-specific snatch and clean and jerk performances (p>0.05). As a result of the research, it can be said that back squat CA has partially positive effects on the vertical jump performances of weightlifting athletes, but has no effect on weightlifting-specific Olympic lifts.
