Abstract (EN)
In this work, a decision support system has been developed, implemented and tested in real environment by using an interactive information touch screen (computer kiosk), of which the aim is to help patients choose the appropriate department for their own complaints. It has been also tested for effectiveness by the help of its usage statistics. As a decision mechanism, an expert system has been developed having the knowledge of four medical doctors. Along with the guidance service, an expectancy survey and a satisfaction survey have been applied to the users. The patients are supposed to enter the necessary information using the touch screen. It has been analyzed if the age, gender and education level of the users were correlated with their answers given in the surveys. A medically meaningful group of samples has been randomly selected from the usage logs. Three medical doctors re-guided these samples based on their age, gender and symptoms to construct a control group. Then these two groups have been compared by their target departments to find the success of the guidance system. The analysis has shown that the system has matched with 70% of the samples guided with the predominant decision of the experts. It has been also found out that the use of kiosk was easy and the need for the guidance service increased as the level of education decreased. It has been concluded that this system is applicable to the real world considering its decision mechanism, user interfaces, survey results and success rate. It has been also agreed that the system is open to further improvements, is able to be expanded modularly and thanks to these qualities it is very possible that it could be used widely in the near future.
