Abstract (EN)
The LLC topology is frequently used in battery chargers. This highly efficient topology is particularly suitable for on-board battery chargers. This allows for smaller, more compact and lighter-weight devices to be used in aircraft. Aircraft equipped with on-board chargers can charge emergency batteries not only before flight but also during flight. This thesis will design, simulate, and test a digitally controlled battery charger using hardware-in-line setup and software developed in accordance with the key principles of the DO178C standard. The organization of the thesis is as follows. Chapter I includes an introduction to the LLC charger requirement and a roadmap for design. Chapter II gives background information about lithium-ion batteries, resonant LLC converters, PID controls, and the DO-178C aviation standard. Chapter III presents the design of the digital LLC converter, detailing the LLC circuit and PI control design, followed by the simulation results. Chapter IV includes high level requirements, low level requirements and software design. Chapter V details the hardware-in-the-loop testing methodology and presents the results of executing the developed LLC circuit source code on the target device. Conclusions and ideas for future work are given in Chapter VI.
