Abstract (EN)

PURPOSE: Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) is a process characterized with progressive renal dysfunction because of loss of nephrons. When progression of CRF is complete, end-stage renal failure (ESRD) occurs because of slow and progressive renal damage which is began by any reason. Prophylactic treatment of osteodystrophies, which is caused by secondary hyperparathyroidism in chronic renal failure is possible with active vitamin D (Calcitrol) and calcium. The PTH concentration is one factor which is used for initiating and surveillance of treatment. There is critical importance of PTH measurements for surveillance of PTH suppression because of the fact that using vitamin D has serious side effects such as hypercalcemia, calcemic arteriopaty and metastatic calcification.MATERIALS AND METHODS: Total 88 (53 male, 35 male) hemodialysis patients between 17- 80 years old were enrolled to study. Control group is not used. PTH was measured with different methods and results were found as follows: IRMA result was different from ECLIA and ELISA (p< 0.01). But ECLIA and ELISA results were not significantly different. Difference between IRMA and ECLIA was 200%, between IRMA and ELISA was 284%.CONCLUSION: In conclusion, despite strong correlations among PTH values measured 3 different methods were found, we suggested that the measurements of patient should be done only one method because of surveillance of results and reliability. We not found correlation among PTH, Ca, P results in patients with elevated PTHrP. We concluded that the correlation to understand between these, further studies required.
