Abstract (EN)

Revolutions in the field of industry and technology have brought many changes and transformations in the field of architecture as in every field. As human beings keep up with this change, the ways of thinking, designing and producing in the field of interior architecture have also changed. Although there are many examples in the field of interior architecture in our country, it is thought that there are not enough projects in the field of computational design. Within the scope of this problem, the aim of this study, which is based on questions related to the interior design process of computational design, is basically to determine the current situation by reading the use of computational design in the field of interior architecture through designers in Turkey. Qualitative research method was used in the study and structured interview technique was used as a data collection tool. In the selection of the sample group, the criteria of being a domestic design office, operating in the market for at least 10 years and having at least 5 designs in the field of interior architecture on computational design were used. In line with the purpose, design offices operating in Turkey were reviewed in the literature and the design offices that met the criteria constituted the sample group of the study. Following the determination of the sample group, the interview forms prepared as a data collection tool were sent to the sample group determined within the scope of the study via e-mail, and as a result of the positive feedback received, interviews were conducted verbally-written or offline with the structured interview technique over digital networks. The data obtained from the interview questions were analyzed by content analysis method; frequently repeated concepts and themes were revealed in this process. In addition, the results of the analysis were visually supported with the word cloud method. The findings of the study show that computational design is not yet widespread enough in interior architecture projects in Turkey. However, it is seen that this method is used as a strategic tool in design processes and plays an effective role especially in producing complex geometric forms and user-oriented solutions.
