Abstract (EN)
With population growth and industrial development of Turkey's need for energy is constantly increasing. For this reason, it is critical to plan for the development of existing energy resources in our country. Turkey produces new projects and make new investments to develop the energy sector. However, Turkey's fossil energy resources, failed to meet the energy demand, imports petroleum, natural gas and coal from abroad. Imports to close the energy deficit are increasing every year. The energy import realized in 2017 is about 27 billion dollars. This figure is 35% higher than in 2016. To reduce these figures and reduce external dependence, it is necessary to evaluate domestic energy resources. Turkey can make a great contribution to country economy by using water resources in energy production. Therefore, we need to improve the hydropower potential of our country. In this thesis study, geographical information systems are used to investigate the points of dam having hydroelectric energy potential in a basin. In this scope, hydropower potential of Seydisuyu Basin has been investigated. The data needed to examine the water potential of the basin and determine the hydropower potential were obtained using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). In GIS program, the amount of electricity to be generated is calculated by defining a flow chart in the program and the points of hydroelectric energy and the amount of hydroelectric energy that can be generated by using topographical data and rainfall data. However, it was decided that one of these points is the most appropriate dam site, and dam reservoir planning was done at this point. The amount of hydroelectric energy to be generated from this planned dam is also calculated by using SIMAHHP 5.0 software. Construction costs and economic analyzes of the dam were calculated using SIMAPHH 5.0 software. The dam installed at Seydisuyu basin is estimated to have an installed capacity of 0.753 MW, an annual energy production of 1.98 GWh / year, an annual monetary return of 0.189 * 106 US $, and an investment cost of 3275.92 US $ per kW. This work constitutes a planning example that can be implemented in our country as a whole.
