Abstract (EN)
In order to meet the world's food and water needs as well as the energy crises, this thesis investigates a hybrid system that uses DCMD, PEMFC, PEME, and PV/T solar panels to produce clean water, hydrogen, and electricity. The feed water that powers the DCMD to produce 100 tons of freshwater per day is heated by the heat released from the PEMFC. In keeping with the environmentally friendly aspects of this concept, an electrolyzer powered by a solar system is also employed to create the hydrogen fuel for the fuel cell. MATLAB and Aspen Plus software are used to model this hybrid system and perform energy and exergy calculations. An economic analysis is performed to find the LCOE, LCOH, and LCOW, the payback period, and the ratio of energy losses to investment costs that have a crucial impact on cost-effectiveness. The results obtained show that the electrical, overall, and exergy efficiency of the system are, respectively, 25.84%, 90.39%, and 56.81%. It was discovered that the payback period is 7.488 years and the ratio of exergy losses to investment cost of the entire system is 0.68 W/US$. Finally, the system is deemed economically advantageous because the computed LCOE (0.1998 US$/kWh) is lower than the industry electricity price in Türkiye, which is 0.310 US$/kWh; the LCOH (5.2 US$/kg) is within the range of the cost of green hydrogen (3.00 US$/kg to 8.00 US$/kg); and the LCOW (0.7384 US$/m3 ) is within the range of freshwater produced from seawater desalination (0.60 - 1.06 US$/m3 ).
