Abstract (EN)

In this study, the inhibition activity of 2-amino-4-methoxy-6-methyl-1,3,5-triazine (AMT) inhibitor on mild steel (MS) in 0.5 M HCl solution was investigated by using linear polarization resistance (LPR), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization (PD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), surface mapping (EDX-mapping), energy dispersion X-ray spectroscopy methods (EDX). For inhibitor dosages ranging from 0.5 to 10.0 mM, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and linear polarization resistance testing gave polarization resistance values that were extremely close. The surface of MS was determined to be negatively charged after the zero charge potential was computed. The inhibitory effect of 2-amino-4-methoxy-6- methyl-1,3,5-triazine (AMT) on the MS surface was studied using SEM and AFM. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm optimally matched the inhibitor's adsorption properties to the MS surface. After 120 hours, just a small amount of H2 is collected on the MS electrode in inhibited solution. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was used to calculate inhibition efficacy, which was 95.7% for a 10.0 mM inhibitor. Furthermore, thermodynamic variables connected with the experiment were calculated and explained, such as Kads and ∆G○ ads.
