Justification of behavior of compliance in the context of law and psychology

This dissertation, titled as "Justification of Behavior of Compliance in the Context of Law and Psychology" consists of four sections. The First Section includes the clarification of the sub-disciplinary area of law and psychology, pointing social psychology's way of examining the behavior of compliance and suggesting the theoretical ground for transferring the behavior of compliance to the legal theory. In the scope of the Second Section, sanction and deterrence issues are discussed as the first and the most referred motivation for compliance behavior. In this context, the results of the empirical researches are used to point the efficiency of both general and specific deterrence which are derived from certain types of punishment. The Third Section, consists of the compliance mechanisms for which there is no need to assign any external incentives as in sanction or award to construct the automatic or internalized behavior of compliance. Lastly, the Fourth Section is dedicated to point the practical sight of compliance behavior, which has grown into a specific profession: the corporate compliance. In the corporate behavior context, the arguments from the individual compliant behavior are referred to explain the inputs and outputs of the corporate compliance, with regard to its unique character.
