Abstract (EN)
As of the declaration of the 2nd Constitutionalism in 1908 and lasting until 1930s, the period in between is referred to as 1st National Architectural Movement in the history of Turkish architecture. The movement in question can be best described as revitalizing of classical Ottoman architectural motifs and integrating them into the new architectural repertoire. In the extensive research carried out to have more insight into this movement, the focus has been on concerns like ideological dynamics, structural sources of architectural ornamentation and the careers of prominent architects of the period. However, there is no comprehensive research either on interior design related ornaments nor furniture which have been produced in the 1st National Architectural Movement period. The wide spectrum of 1st National Architectural Movement period design actually could be observed in many different areas including structural design, furniture, lightening and glass art. This study aims to identify and classify furniture and ornaments of the 1st National Architectural Movement.
