Abstract (EN)
VI ABSTRACT During the Second World War the President Inonu, who was in control in Turkey, established an authoritarian way of governing the country and in this way he managed to have perfect control over the government. During that period in Turkish public opinion the war was the most important issue and other important topics were Turkish Foreign politics, the government's- economical measures and conflicting ideas about war. Besides these issues, the well- being Tax which was established during that period especially and the tax for Agricultural Products were difficult to practice. After the war the news about newly established political parties were of importance in public opinion. During that period the policy of staying out of war- whatever the price would be - was followed in terms of foreign politics. Although there were some decisions which were made by the battling countries during the Allies conferences, Turkey struggled against all pressures and was successful to stay away from the war. In that era with the government's orders and leadings and also because the government banned the newspapers' publishing without time limit or controlled them strictly, there wasn't a free public opinion. The government followed the policy of establishing a public opinion according to its will. The government of the period took the side of foreign cycles when there were discussions among conflicting ideas and especially in order to be sympathetic to the Soviet Union which were one of the victorious sides in 1944 they put pressure on Pan-Turkic's. At the end of the war as Turkey was at side with the Allies, the government of the time had to start the democratically system with multi-parties and with the elections in 1950 Democratically party start to govern Turkey. With this the government that governed Turkey during the Second World War and branded 27 years (1923-1950) as the only party CHP in the country ended.
