THE INFLUENCE OF PROCESS PARAMETERS ON PROPERTIES IN 1XXX AND 3XXX SERIES ALUMINUM SHEET PRODUCTION BY TWIN ROLLER METHOD Naciye Merve CENGİZ Material Science and Engineering, MSc. Thesis, 2018 Thesis Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Remzi GÖREN Thesis Advisor: Prof. Dr. Hediye AYDIN SUMMARY In this project, the production of aluminum sheets and roll from 1xxx and 3xxx alloys produced by twin roll continuous casting technology is realized. Advantages and disadvantages of aluminum sheets produced from 1xxx and 3xxx alloys in modern technology, process parameters in the production, parameters affecting casting and precautions that should be taken for probable mistakes in casting area are analysed. In the thesis project, with the aim of production of 1050 and 3105 alloyed sheet, the production of 1310 mm wide and 5,50 mm - 6,00 mm thick sheet is realized by continous casting technology. The explanations about the problems occuring in cold rolling, annealing process, strecth line, thick- thin slitting line and cut-to-length line levels and improvements about theese problems are given. Casting trials are conducted according to the TS EN 573-3. Mechanical properties features of materials extracted from casting are measured by Zwick Z050 tensile testing device. 1050 alloyed materials are converted to 1,90 mm, 2,00 mm and 2,20 mm thickness by cold rolling and to final product in 3 steps. In addition to the effects of alloy elements (Si, Mn ve Ti) in casting on electrical conductivity, also conductivity of them after cold rolling is measured by implementing final annealing experiments. The grain growth arising in 3105 alloyed and 0,35 mm thick material and the effects of alloys in casting are examined. Five different materials from the casting were tested in cold rolling and intermediate annealing processes and the effects of temperature on grain growth (orangeing) were examined by applying final annealing process.
