The effect of using infographics in primary school 4th grader science course on the students' basic process skills and visual reading skills

In this study, it was aimed to examine the effect of using infographics in primary school 4th grade science course on students' basic scientific process skills and visual reading skills. In this study, in which the quasi-experimental design, one of the quantitative research methods, was used, the pre and post-test control group model was used. Experimental and control groups were determined randomly. In the experimental group science courses were covered with activities prepared by using infographics on related unit topics. In the control group, it was studied using the textbooks prepared according to the 2018 Science Curriculum. As data collection tools in this research; "Basic Skills Scale" consisting of 31 items developed by Padilla, Cronin and Twiest and adapted to Turkish by Aydoğdu and Karakuş (2015) and Visual Reading Evaluation Form (GODF) prepared by Erem (2015) were used. In the analysis of the data obtained in the study, the "t-test", one of the parametric tests, was used because the pretest and posttest scores of the experimental and control groups showed normal distribution. As a result of the analysis of the data, it was revealed that there was a statistically significant difference in favor of the experimental group between the Basic Skills Scale posttest scores of the experimental group students and the control group students. In addition, it was determined that there was a statistically significant difference in favor of the experimental group between the Visual Reading Evaluation Form posttest point averages of the experimental group students and the control group students.
