The relationship between primary and secondary school principals' ethical leadership behavior levels and teachers' organizational commitment levels

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between the ethical leadership behavior levels of primary and secondary school principals and the organizational commitment levels of teachers. Whether the level of organizational commitment of teachers varies according to demographic data was investigated. In the research, scanning method, which is one of the descriptive methods, was used. The universe of the research consists of 2247 primary and secondary school teachers in Kartal District. Representing this universe, 329 teachers were selected by random sampling method. The sample width was determined using the Raosoft tipper size calculator program. Demographic Information Form, Ethical Leadership Behaviors Scale and Organizational Commitment Scale were used as data collection tools in order to determine the opinions of the sample group about the ethical leadership levels of the managers and towards organizational commitment. The distribution of the demographic data of the sample group was examined by frequency analysis. Tukey test was used to analyze the data with one-way analysis of variance. Correlation analysis was also performed to determine the relationship between the scales. Analyzes were made with SPSS 20.0 software at 95% confidence level. As a result of the analysis of the data obtained in the research, the ethical leadership behavior levels of primary and secondary school principals were evaluated by teachers above the middle level. As a result of the analyzes, the organizational commitment level of the teachers was found above the middle level. As a result of the correlation analysis between ethical leadership behavior scale and organizational commitment scale, a positive relationship was found.
