The impact of the international organization on women`s empowerment in Palestinian territories

This research aims to elaborate the role of international aids and development organization in women`s empowerment. It seeks to measure to what extent women`s empowerment programs\ projects are successful in Gaza Strip and also what are the basic activities, outputs, results and the used tools to measure empowerment and evaluate the target group. Twenty- two interviews were held online to answer a set of questions (men and women) who are over 25 years old. The main findings of the research were: *Donor`s attitudes weaken the role of women, as funding goes on matters that are not a high priority. Funding process and foreign aids are limited and restricted especially after the escalation in the Arab region. There is a main complication of foreign funds as it stems from the donor`s agenda and their priorities as well. *The social evaluation of women`s empowerment and its outputs has witnessed a gradual good change. The West Bank have a better understandings and representation for women than those in Gaza Strip because of the ideological difference. There are significant society changes that start from individuals through women`s empowerment activities. *There is a limited economic support for all Palestinian people, including women. There is an exclusion of women`s participation due to the societal outlook, traditions and masculinity there. *There are primary matters to achieve the success of women`s economic empowerment programs such as financial development, lack of access to funding resources. *There is almost no sustainability because of the continual Israeli attacks, which destroy various targets, buildings, factories and human beings as well. Actually, promoting the joint cooperation is a must among the women`s institutions. There should be modern and more proper agendas for donors to insure a successful women`s empowerment programs. The Ministry of Women has to set a more organized systemic role in drawing the policies towards women`s empowerment programs. Women`s institutions should look for new models of women`s empowerment programs with no exclusion regarding to gender. Indeed, there is a basic side of effect of the economic women`s empowerment as it may create a high level of independency for women which may result in family disintegration.
