ABSTRACT Çelik, A. The effect of two different carbohydrateratios in diets on biochemical and anthropometric parameters women with insulin resistance. HKU Nutrition and Dietetics graduate thesis, Gaziantep, 2018.In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of two different carbohydrate levels on anthropometric and biochemical parameters women with insulin resistance. The study was carried out on 30 individuals between 20 and 50 years of age who were diagnosed with insulin resistance and who had BMI 25-35 kg / m2, between March 2017 and May 2017 at diet polyclinic in Gaziantep Province The Şehitkamil Public Hospital Individuals were divided into two groups according to age, low carbohydrate (LCD) and high carbohydrate (HCD) groups according to BMI. The Diets of the two groups planned weight loss as 45-50% of the energy for the LCD group; 55-60% of the energy for the HCD group from carbohydrate. At the beginning of there search, general characteristics of the individuals, nutrition habits, three days of food consumption and physical activity levels were determined by there researcher. Individual anthropometric measurements were taken before the study (B.S) and every month until the end of the study, and biochemical parameters were taken before and after the study (A.S.). B.S and A.S. of BMI (31,35 ± 1,67; 29,41 ± 2,24), waist circumference (98,67 ±4,40cm; 89,93 ±6,31cm), body fat mass (30,62 ±4,30kg; 27,57 ±4, 07kg), and the body fat ratio (38,44 ±3,12kg; 36,54 ±3,32kg). This difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). The body mass index (30,13± 3,11; 24,89± 3,33), waist circumference (98,93 ±5,45cm; 89,40 ±6,39cm), body fat mass (30,13± 3,11kg; 24,89 ±3,33kg), body fat ratio (38,01 ±1,99kg; 34,95 ±2,90kg) were found to be decreased. This difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). Body mass index, body fat content, lean body mass and body water quantities, HOMA-IR, FBG (fasting blood glycose), insulin, vitamin D. There were no statistically significant differences in terms of HDL cholesterol and triglyceride values (p> 0.05). There were only significant differences of total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol values between the groups (p <0.05). In conclusion, this study showed that high and low carbohydrate diets had significantly similar effects on weight loss, anthropometric measurements and biochemical parameters. Individualized, nutritional guidelines and a balanced weight loss diet should be adapted as the gold standard in weight loss of patients. Keywords: Obesity, insulin resistance, carbohydrates
