Abstract (EN)

In a range of applications, such as catalysts and catalyst support, graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) can be a viable substitute for amorphous and graphitic carbon.. In this study, g-C3N4 was prepared from pure urea by pyrolysis method at high temperatures, 550°C.In the first part of the thesis, prepared g-C3N4 was used instead of activated carbon as a photocatalyst in the selective reduction of 4,4'- dinitrodiphenylether and 1,5-dinitro naphthalene to their nitroamino derivatives. The reaction was carried out under daylight (xenon lamp) and in the presence of NH2NH2.H2O as a hydrogen source, It has been deduced the yield of selective reduction of the nitro group under these conditions, increases by a few percentages (about %5-10) relative to the yield obtained in the presence of activated carbon under reflux. In the second part of the thesis, g-C3N4 was examined as a photocatalyst in the degradation of industrially well known a few chlorine compounds in aqueous medium. Quantitative reductions were observed after several repeated experiments. However, their values were not at the level to be considered and commented on.
