Investigation on the environmental guidelines of primary school 4th grade students

The aim of this study is to examine the attitudes of the fourth grade students studying in Kütahya towards the environment. Survey model was used in this research. The sampling of this study is composed of 1904 students from the fourth grade of primary schools in the central district of Kütahya. In order to collect the data, Environmental Attitude Scale for Elementary Students was used. The scale was a likert type consisting of 34 items and was graded as "I agree", "I disagree", "I am not sure". In the analysis of data frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, Mann Whitney U Test was usedto compare two sample meansand Kruskal Wallis test was used to compare multiple groups. The results of the analyzes are as follows: It was found that primary school students attitudes towards environment were high. It was found that female students had more positive attitudes towards the environment than male students. It was found that the attitude points of the students towards the environment were increased as the academic achievement of the students were increased. It was determined that the students living in the city center had more positive attitudes towards the environment than the students living in the village. It was determined that there was no significant relationship between feeding animal in students homes and attitude towards the environment. No significant relationship was found between the attitude level of the students having garden at home and the attitude towards the environment. There was no statiscally signicifant relationship between the education level of the students fathers and attitude points towards the environment. There was no statiscally significant relationship between the education level of the students mothers and attitude points towards the environment. It was found that the students with moderate and high leves of family income had more positive environmental attitudes thant the students with low family income.
