Abstract (EN)

Science, idea and art play a leading role in what makes the nations distinctive and valuable. One of the most important of the principle branches of art is undoubtedly the Traditional Turkish music. Although it is only one of the branches of art, it has a certain effect both on all branches of art and science and idea. It is essential that a nation's music should be investigated thoroughly in order to be able to correctly evaluate its level of culture and civilization. Therefore, a significant population of the Turkish world, Iranian Turks' music should be understood well in order to accurately criticize and examine their culture and civilization and to evaluate them correctly. Iranian geography was dominated by the Seljuk Turks in the 16th century. And it was ruled by the Turkish dynasties until the 20th century. Even today, peoples of Turkish origin comprise a significant population of the country. Iranian Turkishness serves as a bridge and station which connect the Central Asia/Turkistan Turkishness to the Caucasian and Anatolian Turkishness. Turkish culture and civilisation which came ceaselessly from Altai, Kashkar, Yesi, Tashkent, Samarkant, Bukhara, Khorezm, Transoxiana and Khorasan settled in Iran like people, and even moved forward to the West after growing to a head. Genius figures of the Turkish World, masters of arts of musical instruments and words like Farabi from Otrar, Türkistan, İbni Sina from Bukhara, Safiyüddin Urmavî born and growing up in Urmia, Abdulkadir Marağayî born and growing up in Maragai, and Ali Selimî performing his art in Tabriz contributed much to the Traditional Turkish music, an important element of the Turkish civilization, and took their well-deserved place in the world. Iranian Turkish Traditional music was exposed to many obstacles and prohibitions from the beginning of the 20th century, as it was the case during the period of Shah Tahmasb, with the Pahlavi and Khomeini regimes which were the governance of the Persians. Despite all sorts of prohibition and obstacles, Iranian Traditional Turkish music, having well-rooted history, maintains its existence even if it is not at the desired level. With an estimated population of 35 million people according to the unofficial figures, Iranian Turks spread all across Firuzabad to Erdebil, Turkmansahra to Sulduz where there are musical bands-small and large-schools of music and sites to produce orchestra and musical instruments. In addition, over two thousand bards who maintain the Turkish tradition of bard and performers twice as large playing along with them carry on performing. The aim of the study is to investigate the Iranian Traditional Turkish music, without any previous study on it, to introduce their world of music to the science world by studying and evaluating it, and thus contribute to the Traditional Turkish music.
