Abstract (EN)

From the classical economists to the contemporary modern economists, it is agreed upon that the meanings of the concepts "productivity" and "efficiency" are important when the scarce resources are used at maximum efficiency for manufacturing the highest output at the production line. From the perspective of businesses, the topics of evaluation of the past, planning of the future, determination of the goals, positioning against the rivals are important in terms of productivity and efficiency. In this study, it is aimed to determine the efficiency of businesses in the manufacturing field which are listed at Istanbul Stock Exchange and to determine what kind of transformations should be made for the inefficient businesses at their variables. Financial rates which have been calculated from the data of 2016 term of the businesses have been used for this study. Input oriented Data Envelopment Analysis Method have been used for determining the efficiency of the businesses. As a result of the study, among the seven sub-sectors, Forestry and Paper Production sector has been determined as the most efficient sector while Chemistry and Petrol, Rubber and Plastic Products are found to be the least efficient sectors. Enterprises not effective in sectors could become more active by reducing input variables.
