Teacher views on functional grammar teaching(sample of Bitlis)

This study aims to demonstrate the importance of functional realization of grammar. The study prepared to identify the views of Turkish teachers who study at the secondary school on functional grammar. The research includes 230 Turkish teachers who study at 139 secondary school in the province of Bitlis in 2017-2018 academic year . Questionnaire was used to describe events and facts. Questionnaires reached Turkish teachers by going to the schools where they work. Data from questionnaires filled by teachers entered Statistical Package For Social Sciences (SPSS) program then according to the data, results were presented in tables and results were interpretted. Percent(%) ,frequency(F) analysis, t-test and Anova( one-way analysis of variance) was used in the evaluation of obtained data . As a result of research teachers' views on the teaching method of language teaching, functional language teaching and some language teaching topics are generally in the same direction. Most of the teachers oppose language teaching at a separate course time, participate in the proposals presented to solve the problems of grammar teaching. It was found that the gender and place of duty variable had no significant effect on teacher's opinions. There has been a differentation between responses to some statements in terms of graduation and work experience variables.
