Abstract (EN)
In this study, titled "Criticism of Modernity In the Poems of İsmet Özel", the poems in the works of poet, Erbain, Of Not Being A Jew, Bir Yusuf Masalı, were examined in the context of criticism of modernity. Poems are considered in the context of modernity, while they are sorted by date of publication and examined. Since many of the poems in the work called Bir Yusuf Masalı were collected by the poet later in Erbain, the remaining poems were added to the end of each theme and examined. As one of the most important representatives of Modern Turkish poetry in recent times, Özel's poems have been classified and studied in the context of social criticism, such as corruption, capitalism, consumer society, the state, the age of enlightenment and reason, Turkish modernization. While leaning towards the criticism of modernity in Özel's poems, on the one hand, the political and social processes that Turkey has undergone and undergone have come across as reflected in the poet's poetry and have been studied, supported by the poet's writings, interviews. The failures in Turkish modernization have been one of the prominent criticisms in the poet's poems. Keywords: Modernity, İsmet Özel, Poem, Modern Poem
