Some medical plants available in Herbarium of İstanbul University Biology Department botany division

In this study, some of the medicinal plants in the Istanbul University Faculty of Science Faculty Herbarium and their using purposes and active ingredients were explained. Without a doubt it is impossible to study all the plants in the herbarium since their large number. For this reason, only 77 of them were examined. With this study it is aimed to acknowledge value of the richness of our country's flora and protection of it. Families such as Lamiaceae, Asteraceae, Boraginaceae, Rosaceae were studied. Plant species such as Acorus calamus, Achillea millefolium, Artemisia absinthium, Ballota nigra, Berberis vulgaris, Borago officinalis, Cichorium inthybus, Cupressus sempervirens, Digitalis lamarchii, Fumaria officinalis, Galium verum, Juglans regia, Salix alba, Taxus baccata were investigated. Emphasis was made on importance of occupational branches such as botanists, biologists, pharmacists, doctors on ecological planning, increasing the competitiveness by increasing the standardization of medicinal plants on foreign trade and making spatial and geographical maps and applying them to field planning.
