Abstract (EN)

In this study, Audiological Brainstem Responses (S-ABR) to speech stimulus by using 40 ms /da/ stimulus were recorded and normal values of normal-hearing (NH) individuals were determined. Moreover the cochlear implanted (CI) subjects and NH subjects were tested in sound field (air) and S-ABR results were recorded. This study is based entirely on a quantitative research approach. In this context, the first research question was conducted using a quantitative-descriptive design. The study is compatible with 2.a. quantitative-descriptive design, 2.b. causal-comparative design, and 2.c. correlational design. In this study, 53 normal-hearing (eNH) subjects who were stimulated through right or left ear via inner ear earphone, 10 normal-hearing (aNH) subjects who were stimulated in sound field, and 13 hearing impaired cochlear implanted (CI) subjects were involved. All subjects were volunteer. For each subject, means and standard deviations of values of latencies (ms) and amplitudes (μV) of V, A, C, D, E, F, O waves, and in frequency domain, by using Fourier transform (FT), means and standard deviations of values of frequencies (Hz) and coefficients (μV) of F0, F1, F2 fundamental and formant frequencies, respectively, were calculated. S-ABR results of the eNH subjects were compared to those of the aNH subjects and the wave latancies of the subjects who were stimulated via inner ear earphone were shorter. S-ABR results of the aNH subjects were compared to those of the subjects using cochlear implant(CI). It was observed that all latencies of the waves of the NH subjects were shorter. Relations between speech discrimination, receptive language, and phonological development levels and latancies of wave V of S-ABR of CI subjects were investigated. Single Syllable Audiological Discrimination Test was applied to the cochlear implanted (CI) subjects to assess speech discrimination. Receptive Language Word (TIFALDI - AD) sub test of Turkish Expressive and Receptive Language (TIFALDI) Test was applied to the CI subjects to assess expressive and receptive language development. Turkish Meaningless Word Repetition (TAST) Test was applied to the CI subjects to assess phonological development. Single Syllable Audiological Discrimination test, TExReLa sub test and TMWR test scores of the CI subjects were compared to latancies of V waves and negative correlations were observed in all comparisons.
