Abstract (EN)

The women couldn't see the value they deserve along the history, they also encounter the obstacles in their working life. Gendered occupational segregation causes that they work at lower level jobs and prevent that they ascend the upper positions they deserve. Although being teacher is preferred by women, in the teaching profession quite a few number of women in school management is viewed. The purpose of this study is to examine the reasons for the low number of women when it comes to management in teaching profession which is perceived as a woman's profession and is to find out the factors that influence the request of women?s being manager of the school positively or negatively. The research is accomplished by the views of survey applied on 222 women in Adana. In the first part of the thesis, the purpose and significance of the research, hypotheses, assumptions and limitations are included. In the second part the concepts of management and leadership are explained. In the third part entry of women in working life and historical process is examined. In the fourth part the method of the research and in the fifth part the evaluation of findings are explained. The conclusions and recommendations are presented in the sixth part.
