Evaluation of paper factory waste sludge in chipboard production

Abstract (EN)

Paper mills consume large amounts of water throughout the production flow to produce paper. Waste sludge is formed as a result of the treatment of water in such facilities. This waste sludge is released to nature along with the backwash water. This waste sludge was first dried to remove moisture from it. Later, this dried sludge was grinded. In addition, the wood material was also turned into chips and dried in a drying oven. Afterwards, the pulp was made by adding certain amounts of wood material and some additives to the waste sludge. The mixed sludge was produced with a mold of certain dimensions in 18 mm thickness. The sheet drafts obtained are pressed into the press and pressed at the determined temperature and time. After these processes, some physical and mechanical tests were carried out on the plates obtained. Plates were obtained at densities of 0.69 and 0.71 g / cm3. The plates obtained were then taken to physical (water absorption, thickness increase) and mechanical tests (bending resistance, flexural modulus of elasticity, tensile strength perpendicular to the surface). At the end of the study, the conformity of the plate drafts obtained with the standards was investigated and it was determined that these plates could be used for general purposes
