The relationship between inmovation, intellectuel capital and corporate performance in health teochnologies in public hospitals

Intellectual capital in the health sector, which is one of the biggest sources and users of innovative applications, is considered as one of the most critical elements that make a difference among institutions and provide institutions with sustainable competitive advantage. With the increasing emphasis on knowledge, the combination of intellectual capital knowledge and experience has been key to the success and performance of institutions. In this respect, the study will be valuable in terms of examining the relationship between health technology innovation, intellectual capital and institutional performance in public hospitals. The aim of the study is to examine the relationship between innovation, intellectual capital and institutional performance in health technologies. The universe of the study consists of public hospitals affiliated to the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate. After the preliminary interviews, 388 health personnel working in five public hospitals, who were found to exhibit innovative behavior, were included in the sample group. Convenience sampling method was used as data collection method. The data of the study were collected between 27 June and 1 July 2022. The sections of the survey are as follows; socio-demographic information form, health technologies innovation scale, intellectual capital scale and finally institutional performance scale. Before data analysis, reliability and factor analyzes of health technologies innovation and intellectual capital scales were performed. SPSS 26 program was used in the analysis of the data. In the study, health technologies innovation scale, intellectual capital scale and institutional performance scale scores were calculated and kurtosis and skewness coefficients were examined to determine the conformity of the scores to the normal distribution. Parametric test techniques were used in the study due to the normal distribution of scores. Within the scope of the analysis, Pearson correlation analysis was used to examine the relationship between intellectual capital and innovation in health technologies, the relationship between intellectual capital and institutional performance, and the relationship between innovation and institutional performance in health technologies. On the other hand, regression analysis results were examined in order to examine the mediating role of intellectual capital in the relationship between innovation in health technologies and institutional performance. As a result of the analysis, a moderately positive relationship was found in the relationship between health technologies innovation and intellectual capital (r=0.522) and in the relationship between health technologies innovation and institutional performance (r=0.517). A strong positive correlation was found in the relation between intellectual capital and institutional performance (r=0.848). In addition, in the regression model established for the mediating effect, institutional performance is effective on health technology innovation (β=0,517). Institutional performance has an impact on intellectual capital (β=0,848). When institutional performance is included in the regression analysis in the first step; As there is a decrease in the relationship between intellectual capital and health technology innovation(β=0,297), a partial mediation effect has been reached. According to these results, it is suggested that public health institutions should focus on intellectual capital and innovative practices in order to increase their performance.
